About Waterclose Meadows Campsite

An idyllic campsite situated in a peaceful location with beautiful views over the Ouse Valley.

Our pitches are all grass and suitable for caravans, motorhomes and tents, all complete with electric hook-ups. We also have our fully equipped camping pods.

The campsite offers all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay including a toilet and shower block with disabled facilities, a chemical toilet disposal point, fresh drinking water, laundry, and a nearby tearoom. There is a handy community run shop and post office just a few minutes walk into Houghton village.

Situated right next to the twin villages of Houghton and Wyton, Waterclose Meadows is the perfect location to explore the local area. There are several walks and cycle ways connecting to the nearby villages of the Hemingfords.

A little further afield, you can visit some of our other National Trust properties and places including Anglesey Abbey, Wicken Fen Nature Reserve and Wimpole Hall Estate.

The area is nice and the camp site is wel maintained. However, 40 pound for 1 night (2 adults and 1 child) is way too expensive! I was shocked by the price. We also didn't like the fact that we were told exactly on which inch we could stay (and not an inch to the right or left). No feeling of freedom. Wouldn't recommend the camp site.

Lovely site, But we had a very bad experience whilst on site this year. I went to empty my toilet cassette, and discovered a 6” tent peg (nail) embedded in the side of the Motorhome. I believe the only way this could happen was when the grass was cut on the pitch next to us ( the occupant had departed), the mower picked up the item and threw it at the Motorhome. No realistic other option seems possible. I am attempting a claim against the National trust . But so far no acceptance of responsibility.(4 weeks waiting so far) A very disturbing experience. Supposing the object had his a person. It could have been fatal..
