Turf Hotel

Clive and Ginny Redfern took over Turf in 1990 and, together with their sons James and Oliver, have continued to renovate and improve this fascinating timber framed slate hung listed building. This is a proper pub. There are no carpets, just pine strip floors making our pub ideal for muddy paws and muddy kids.

Both most welcome!

Getting to us is all part of the fun, making Turf a true destination pub. 

You cannot drive to us. Walking, cycling or arriving by 

boat to our pontoon are the options.

Great pub in a superb location with a fantastic vista. Has lots of character and a good selection of beers and food and the food is good. One of our favourite pubs in Devon - we arrived by boat but it can be tricky to find space on the pontoon when it is busy as the pontoon isn't particularly big.

Bikers pit stop!! Perfect place to grab a drink after a walk along the estuary from the church. Haven't tried the food but the choice of ales were good and has a spacious beer garden. Very picturesque setting.

Great location with lovely views. Gentle flat cycle ride with a pint at the end to look forward to. Staff very friendly. Didn't do their outside BBQ when we were there and so limited meal as shown on their website. Children's meal not much smaller and was enough for us (light meal).

Great pub at a great location. Perfect stop during a walk and wildlife watch along the estuary/Marshes. Staff is very friendly and the food is amazing!!! Went with my parents during the week for lunch and we were all amazed how good the food was.

Great place to stop off on a walking or cycling day out. Food looked fantastic and would love to revisit. The position of the pub is brilliant, right on the toe path, camel and river.
