Tongs have been established in Spilsby since the early 1930’s, when Edmund Jackson Tong opened an Ironmongers shop in the same premises occupied by us today. The business was run for many years by his youngest son Geoffrey, who then handed the business over to his son Mark who now runs the shop with his wife Tracey.

In 2014 Geoffrey celebrated 70 years of working at the shop and still works three days a week.

The business has changed and adapted over the years to meet the ever changing market. Having started as a business specialising in supplying the local farmers with agricultural ironmongery, today we sell a large selection of DIY, decorating, gardening, hand and power tools, but we still have a strong connection with the local farming community in supplying stock fencing, barbed wire, pest control products and fixings.

In 2006 the cookshop was opened on the first floor and this added a new dimension to the business.

The business aim remains the same as when Edmund Jackson Tong first opened its doors in the early 1930’s, in supplying the people of Spilsby and district with quality products with helpful and knowledgeable staff.
