So we fought again… and we lost again. So we fought and we fought and we fought some more until we eventually stopped a property developer turning our pub into houses. That was only the beginning, we then had to raise enough money to buy our pub, let alone renovate it. To cut a VERY long story short, we succeeded! Came across The Thorold when we were staying nearby. Lucky us. The first welcome is from the décor of the please. It makes you want to spend some time here. The second welcome is from the friendly staff and confirms the first. We stayed for drinks (good ale and wine) and a meal. The food was prepared and presented well and very good. This may explain why it was doing quite a good trade for a Wednesday evening, so I can advise booking for a meal. The atmosphere was very friendly and sociable. I got the feeling there were quite a few regulars in. In short, for good food and drink in nice friendly surroundings, this is your place.

Very pleasant lunch. Staff fabulous and welcoming. Genuinely a dog friendly establishment. Food very good, proper chips. My Bar Board was a tad expensive for what you got but selection was a spice lovers delight.

Outstanding family and dog- friendly pub. We are frequent returning customers to this fantastic village pub. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are consistently brilliant, and the service is always exceptional. Ed and his team are warm, welcoming, and will go out of their way to ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Our children and four-legged friend are always welcomed and well catered for. What an asset to the community!
