The Rockingham Arms

Built in 1840, The Rockingham Arms is a cosy old village pub full of character. Traditional values and a warm welcome, serving comforting home cooked food, real ales, great wines and good coffee. Our back garden leads straight onto the beautiful Canada Common, a National Heritage area. We are a very dog friendly pub, and happy to take bookings in the Bar area for you and your 4 legged friends. Food is served 12pm - 2pm, 5.30pm - 8pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm - 7pm on Sundays. We don't allow dogs in the restaurant. Real ales from Ringwood Brewery, Flack Manor and other guest breweries. As always, our focus is on top quality, freshly cooked food. We use local suppliers where possible and work with a hand-picked network of farmers, fishermen and food producers to make sure only the best, sustainable fresh ingredients are used in our dishes.

Very popular pub right next to the New Forest. Great for dog walking. We dropped in early evening on a Wednesday hoping for a meal but it was totally booked up so plan ahead if you want to go here! We stayed for a drink which is the least you can do in exchange for a parking spot, although there is public parking just a few yards further down the road.

We decided to visit Canada Common and then The Rockingham Arms on whim on a Saturday afternoon. Luckily there was a cancellation and we were able to be seated. The place was full which is nice to see, especially in these times. The atmosphere and decor were cosy & the staff were lovely and friendly. My partner & I ordered the beef burger and it was delicious! (Sorry I couldnt snap a picture before I dug in, I was hungry! 😂). We will definitely visit again if we are in the area, and I would highly recommend.

Food is sensational, service is a bit … weird! We had booked a few weeks in advance for my birthday, just the two of us. Upon arrival we were told where our table was, not shown to, and unfortunately even though we booked far in advance we were sat Bar Side instead of restaurant side which we found odd for a late Sunday afternoon with an advance booking. When we found our table our self we had no menus on the table, as nobody had shown us to our table we were then unsure if we had to go to the bar to order and get menus from. My partner went up to the bar for a menu and came back with one, a few minutes later a waitress showed up to our table with another menu and some water. The food was without fault and absolutely beautiful but even as we were served our food I noticed a difference between the service our table received and the service a table behind us received- the table behind us were asked if they needed any additional sauces with their roast dinners and we were not. Seemed rather odd and just made it feel like they were brushing us off a bit and took away from the overall dinner (which again was absolutely delicious). Overall lovely food, service seemed a bit slap dash at times which is a bit disappointing!

Visited for lunch, two of us and the dog 🐶. Very dog 🐶 friendly. Taking the approach ‘choose something you don’t get at home’ I chose the liver… it was pink, it was excellent. Washed down nicely with a pint 🍺 of Romsey Gold. Jane (getting married in December) was very friendly, professional and attentive … and looked after the dog 🐶. By prior arrangement parked up early for a walk on Canada 🍁 Common. Strongly recommend 👍 December visit…. Remain impressed 🎄👍
