The Osborne View joined the Hall & Woodhouse family in 1961 and is the only remaining pub along Hill Head Beach front, with direct access to the shingle beach. Affording stunning views across the Solent (on a clear day of course!) the pub is named after Osborne House (residential home of HM Queen Victoria) on the Isle of Wight. With over 400 outside covers spanning a raised decked patio and large garden, together with a separate outside bar, there’s nothing quite like it for watching the World go by, particularly on a bright spring or summer’s day. Indeed, in 1912 the Titanic reportedly sailed by on its maiden and last voyage from Southampton to New York! Built in the Victorian era, you can also rest assured that if the sun isn’t shining, there’s always a truly warm welcome waiting for you in the cosy interior, with separate dining and more informal seating areas.

Location 5 stars. Friendly staff 5 stars. Food 4 stars (not enough vegan options but that will come). Beetroot falafel was good - it is a starter but I found it big enough as a main. Partner ordered nut roast which was huge. Easily enough for two people. The only reason I didn’t give overall higher stars is a confusing booking system that is only for tables indoors with the views. Loads of free benches outside and tables without views indoors available at 1pm on Sunday. (Booking system said fully booked until 4.30pm). Also they hide the outdoor umbrellas for some reason. You have to know to ask for them, which on a hot sunny Sunday is odd. It would be better to have all outdoor tables have umbrellas so people understand they are available. Otherwise a nice place with fantastic views.

Great location on the seafront with a huge garden. It's always busy in here (in a good way) but the staff always seems to cope well and service is prompt and friendly. Hall and Woodhouse, so selection of badger ales, which is great. Food is nothing that will blow you away, but always nice. Good pub grub. It's recently become very over priced. Today my wife and I both had a lunchtime salad and 2 drinks, which came to £37.00. The portion sizes were quite small too. We used to eat here regularly but now can't justify the cost. Would be great if they put on more events or even bands in the large outside space.

Just celebrated a joint birthday meal with my friend and family. Had a wonderful meal with a complimentary drink. Our waiter Mathew looked after us during the course of the evening. Nothing was any trouble. It was a very enjoyable evening. The food was amazing. Thank you.

The Osborne View pub is a great place to spend the afternoon, I recently visited with my wife for lunch. The weather was perfect to sit outside and enjoy the views. We both had the fish & chips, and although it wasn't cheap, the portion size was generous and the flavour was great. I would recommend this place for anyone and if the prices are a bit expensive, then just save it for a special occasion.
