Formerly known as the White Lion Public House, this 16th -century pub was re-christened the Old Pound Inn in 1980, named after the old village animal pound that occupied the site before it became a pub. We have a good selection of West Country beers that are pulled from the sprung stillage in our cellar, an open Dutch fire at the centre of the bar, a lounge area and snug, as well as a 44-seat restaurant serving good honest food daily. We are of course a dog-friendly place for well-behaved pooches with snacks available for your fur friends. Our restaurant is open from noon until 9 pm daily with a range that includes light bites, freshly made sandwiches, hearty pub staples and of course desserts. We have a Sunday roast with a choice of 3 types of meat and Wednesdays are steak night, which includes a drink. Langport lies along the River Parrett, which flows from the southern hills of Somerset through to the famous Somerset Levels. Just south we have Wet Moor, a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest. The whole area is teeming with wildlife, including wintering whooper swans. Located in the heart of the Somerset Levels and Moors, Greylake is the perfect place to get closer to nature. Thanks to all the water, you can see lapwing, redshank and snipe nesting in the spring and vast flocks of ducks and waders, being hunted by birds of prey in the winter. Beautiful old pub. Lovely greeting and shown to fantastic inter-joining family rooms. Absolutely spotless and amazing decor. All the trinkets you expect from a 4* hotel were awaiting. Attention to details was perfect. Ate in the restaurant area of the pub, great pub grub. Live music night in main bar, bloody amazing guy called Ian Valentine. Dog friendly too. Top landlady. A perfect pit stop on the way home from Cornwall.

Pleasant, friendly country pub, well used by locals and visitors alike. Quiet restaurant area away from the main bar where we had an excellent meal. Good range of choices including specials; I had the vegetable pie which was superb. Currently staying in Aller for a few days, we shall definitely return before we depart. Highly recommended.

Stayed here for a few nights in December, just perfect for what I needed and they are dog friendly! I've been back a few times, always super friendly service and the BBQ chicken I had was fantastic. Great prices and service, highly recommend.

We unexpectedly came here for lunch this afternoon; as we only live a short drive away and we cannot wait to come back! The food was delicious - very reasonably priced, barely any wait at all and amazing portions. The Staff were so attentive and the drinks were also delicious and reasonably priced. By the time we left, we were already excited to return. An absolute gem that we can’t wait to make our local. Thank you for a great experience!
