The Lace Knittery is a fibre design studio based in rural Somerset and was founded in 2013 by our designer Debbie.
She is a self confessed fibre addict and has been knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving and dyeing for a number of years.
Each design is a moment captured in time and is inspired by the beauty, myth and magic of these British Isles. Each Lace Knittery yarn and fibre is hand painted using acid dye techniques or naturally dyed often using foraged materials from the garden, kitchen and around the studio.
We stock heritage brands, our own patterns and hand painted and natural dyed yarn and fibre as well as premium fibres for felting and spinning.
Commitment to heritage, premium natural fibres, promoting traditional skills and ethical production are at the heart of everything we do. All The Lace Knittery products are produced in house in Somerset.

Karolyne Kerr5 StarI hope to get to the IRL shop one day but wanted to review their online service - just outstanding. I needed a matched yarn in really short order and not only did they get it to me double quick but they also wound the skein into a cake (a VERY fine yarn so a LOT of winding). So responsive and helpful - could not recommend more highly... oh and the yarn is absolutely gorgeous too!Wednesday 13th April 2022
Brenda Hamblin5 StarI eventually managed to get to this shop yesterday. It was an ‘ooh!’ moment walking in, what a lovely place! Great selection of yarns from well known suppliers and Indie dyers, as well as spinning fluff, kits and notions. Beautifully laid out with space to look comfortably and good disabled access. Very pleasant staff. I will be back with friends,There’s a cafe opposite, so It’ll be a good day out.Sunday 22nd August 2021
