OUR STORY
A Lake District Country House B&B, originally built in the 17th century, The House combines old world history with modern day luxury and tech. Sensitively restored, the individually styled bedrooms and elegant reception rooms create a cosy and tranquil welcome.
Set in a walled garden in the Eden Valley village of Temple Sowerby, The House offers an opportunity to relax and indulge and is totally dog friendly.
The village of Temple Sowerby is situated between the market towns of Penrith and Appleby in Westmorland with the mighty Cross Fell Mountain as a spectacular backdrop.

Elaine Mawer5 StarA beautiful setting. Very comfortable and quiet room. Our welcome was second to none as was the breakfast. We required a takeaway continental breakfast as we were starting an event early and our host was so accommodating. The following morning the breakfast was fantastic. If you're looking for a base for exploring the surrounding countryside this would be it.Sunday 19th June 2022
Lise Hertel5 StarGreat dog friendly B and B, lots of space in rooms, gorgeous huge garden to walk in with or without dogs. Great breakfast with vegan and vegetarian options.Thursday 29th September 2022
Gordon Swift5 StarJust stopped here for a noon snack. This place offers excellent food and service. Portions are not massive but very tasty.
Easily missed so keep your eyes open. Walk through the archway and around the back of the house. Eat in or outside.Saturday 16th April 2022

Karen Sienkiewicz5 StarHaving enjoyed our experience when visiting the cafe on 2 previous occasions, we booked a 2 night stay to further explore the area. From the time of booking to our eventual departure after 2 fabulous nights, we cannot fault Temple House. A lovely warm welcome when booking in, a spotlessly clean, spacious room with lots of added extras... and fabulous food (including an amazing choice with several home made items such as smoky beans and hash browns) all added up to a 5 star stay. 🤩Alison and Andy..you certainly know what customers want and deliver it in spades. Thank you..we will be coming back! 😊Sunday 29th August 2021
