Nice meal, but poor service on arrival. We were left waiting at the door despite the gentleman in front of us being shown to his table and we were forgotten. Once seated we were not given menus and not advised that the app dies not given the eat out to help out discount. However, our starters and mains were lovely. No real change. It took 2 hours for a main and a dessert each tonight and that was before the tables started to fill up. The only advantage was the 50% off mains voucher.

I use this place often for lunch as my sister lives nearby, so it's nice and convenient. Food always good, seating always available, highchair also. Garage and supermarket on same plot, therefore cash machines and parking available. Wheelchair access as it's on one level, not sure whether it has a disabled toilet though, if in doubt there, you've always got the supermarket which I'm sure will have one. Prompt service, always clean. Cant go wrong.

Visited for the first time tonight as my brother has just moved into the area. We decided on The Greatfield as it looked very friendly and welcoming. We both had starters. Chipotle chicken and king prawn cocktail. Both delicious and served by a lovely and polite staff member who looked after us well while we were there. We both went for gammon, eggs and chips. Fresh and generously portioned with 2 more clean plates. My brother had apple crumble for dessert. My two courses were £12.95 and his was similar. Great value. It was such a good experience that we stayed for the quiz. Great fun. We will definitely visit again soon. Thank you to all.

We are staggered at some of the reviews here! My Wife and I together with my 2 Brothers visit the Greatfield for a meal every Friday. We have found the Pub atmosphere to be excellent, the staff absolutely brilliant and the wide variety of food to be superb and 1st class. Occasionally when the Pub is busy we have been advised that there may be a delay in receiving food, but their estimate is accurate and always prior to placing the order. Prior to using the Greatfield, we used to try a different pub every week, since finding the Greatfield we can not bring ourselves to go anywhere else! A first class Pub in every respect and Sharon one of the employee's we see every week is superb, a credit to her job and manager! We can not rate the Greatfield highly enough for good Pub food, value and service - well done!

AWFUL. We used to visit The Greatfield regularly, although we live in Swindon we have connections in Cheltenham. It was always reliable and a pleasure to eat there. This time I was extremely hungry, not having eaten all day due to circumstances, so I did actually eat most of my meal because I was not prepared to wait for a redo - assuming that had been offered. The gammon was so tough I couldn't cut it with the steak knife I had to ask for - it came with effectively a butter knife ! Useless. The half tomato, I suspect, was never shown to the grill. The pineapple slice was incredibly thin - yes, it was grilled, which simply made it hard. The portion of peas would have been no more than a level soup-spoonful. And the chips !!! They should never have left the kitchen as it was clearly 50% the scrapings out of the bottom, and the rest were hard and overcooked. I drew this to the attention of a member of staff who apologised (and offered a dessert - which I don't eat anywhere), and was told this was due to the training of new staff. That I totally understand - everyone has to learn. At 77 this is accepted without a problem. The issue is that staff should be supervised in the kitchen - or at the very least meals checked before being served to the customer - until they ARE competent. I would not go there again as there are many alternatives.
