Our pub is a cleverly restored Grade II building dating from the 15th Century that once operated as a fulling mill – hence our quirky name ‘The Flying Fleece’ which links to the heritage of our unique Lakeland building.
The working weir, millrace, wheel and various pieces of machinery are carefully retained and can still be admired.

mahargsaga5 StarThere appears many venues on the Flying Fleece. This the pub close to the stream and national trust House. Welcoming service and pleasant atmosphere. We had two hot freshly brie, bacon and cranberry roll with side salad, crisps and coleslaw. Very tasty and went down drinks. Good place to rest and next walk.Thursday 28th April 2022

Tigi 243 StarHad no cheese on day we visited to make a sandwich (Really? Cheese?) Then ordered a roast beef sandwich and was brought a roast beef dinner. Food was ok bar that and loved the locale. Wouldn't stop us visiting again in the hope they were just having an off day.Thursday 31st March 2022
