This has got to be one of my favourite pubs in this area. We found it on a long 6 mile walk with the dogs on a hot day. Staff not only brought put fresh water for the dogs but home made pork scratchings on a plate like royalty!! Lunch was superb, staff were superb, location was...yep, superb. I cannot recommend it high enough. Thank you.

Very friendly service, good food, reasonably priced, pleasant environment. Updated 28/12/2021: Unfortunately downgraded rating. Pub has a welcoming warm atmosphere, but was disappointed by the menu and food. Only one veggie option on menu for main meals! Prices were on the high side, and portions were small. Toilet was dirty.

I do not expect all boxes to be ticked but I could not complain about the good quality food, beer and wine on offer. Rare to experience a brilliant Wye Valley ale, a perfect rib eye well aged steak, and good red wine in one sitting. They had no shot of Tequila to offer though, which is just as well!! And no cheeseboard which may have killed me regardless. Six of us paid nearly 300, and worth every penny.

After having visited multiple times previously, it soon became apparent that both the menu and the quality of the food had changed significantly and not in a good way. Not sure if it's changed hands or if they have just cut back and made cost savings, but the prices have crept up regardless. Shame as really enjoyed visits previously.
