It’s hard to decide what’s best about eating at the Boardwalk Restaurant: the views or the food. It’s a good job you can enjoy them both at the same time …

Excellent cooking and unbeatable views meet at the Boardwalk Restaurant. Whether you’re catching up with friends for tea, treating your family to lunch, enjoying a special evening à deux, or simply here on the spur of the moment – you’re assured of a wonderful meal.

We are open from 11.30am. Although we do not take bookings for lunch, if you would like to make your visit to Southwold Pier super memorable by dining with us at The Boardwalk, make sure you pop in to speak to a member of the team when you first arrive. If we are busy, you can take a wander up the pier, visiting our shops and arcades, and we will give you a call as soon as the next table becomes available

Everything we serve is freshly made by talented, passionate chefs using seasonal local produce. Our menus change throughout the year to ensure variety and the best flavours.  We also offer a gluten free menu available at all times, including gluten free fish and chips.

At the Boardwalk, you can enjoy your food while watching the waves roll in, and we provide seating outside as well. There’s nothing quite like al fresco dining on the Pier during the summer!

We visited Dulwich and Southwold with our dog. Having eaten at the cafe on Duleich beach previously, we decided to try the Boardwalk Restaurant. We heard it was dog friendly. When we arrived we were greeted and they confirmed that dogs were welcome. We sat at a two seater by the window at the end of the large bay style window. This allowed plenty if floor space for our dog without her being in the way. The staff loved her and kept giving her Boneo treats which she enjoyed. The restaurant is nicely decorated, not over crammed with furniture and was busy but not packed. It felt like a nice, high quality tea room from yesteryear. The service was spot on and in keeping with the venue as was the food which was plentiful and fairly priced. I had my "go to" cod and chips with a coffee and my wife had the pan fried breast of chicken with spring onions and cubes of potatoes and an orange juice chaser. My wife had the sticky toffee puffing and ice dream desert, her usual, and I had another coffee. All in all a most excellent meal in nice surroundings with great service and dog friendly to boot. Well worth it. We then walked around the pier and visited the various nooks and crannies it holds. A great place to visit for all ages.

We came across this gem of a place on a trip to Southwold. We were looking for lunch. We were greeted by very pleasant staff and given a warm welcome. Wide choice of food on the menu, we opted for the seafood linguine. Everything was fresh and delicious. Full of fresh mussels, clams, cockles, shrimp, samphire. Highly recommend and really good value.

Took a party of disabled Stroke Survivors to the Boardwalk restaurant in July. All organised in advance with the management team. They catered for almost 50 of us. The welcome and service was excellent and very well organised. Additionally the food, all ordered off a selected menu, was great, delivered efficiently and quick, and was well presented and tasty. This is the 3rd time our group have used this place and it never disappoints. The place is well run, friendly and efficient. Thoroughly recommend.

We arrived just before 12noon for lunch. Were greeted at the door - very warm and friendly - and were shown to a lovely window table overlooking the beach. The beer battered cod we both had arrived quickly. The batter was super crispy, and not greasy, and the cod inside was piping-hot big white flakes of fish. The not-quite-mushy peas were delicious, too. Chips were lovely, again not greasy. And the pint of Addams 'Ghost Ship' was well kept and delicious. I reckon these are the best fish and chips we've had in a very long while. If I was forced to find a criticism, then the only thing I can say is that I would have happily managed a few more of those chips. I understand that this restaurant is owned by a hotel, and perhaps that is reflected in the quality of the food. Very enjoyable lunch - definitely recommend,

This was a totally unexpected experience. We'd had a long day and looking for somewhere to eat, my daughter suggested the restaurant on the pier. We looked at the menu before entering, and it didn't look anything outstanding. However, what a surprise we were in for. 4 adults, 2 children, all ordered something different. The service throughout the meal was excellent. The food was outstanding. Generous portions, very tasty, very good quality. Not what I expected from an ordinary looking restaurant on the pier.
