While some of the teaching at the school is actually good and some of the teachers do put the effort into their teaching, its easy to tell who genuinely cares about their pupils grades and who is only interested in making themselves look good. If a student struggled with a certain subject or project, most likely they wouldn't get any help, though that depended on which teacher you actually had. Though academically the school does have good facilities, for any creative subjects the facilities are terrible and the teaching seemed across Art, Music and Drama seemed bad for the majority of the two years I took my GCSES They are appalling when it comes to helping people who suffer badly from stress. From the numerous amount of times I broke down crying because I was struggling to cope with the massive amount of stress from studying and coursework, only two teachers actually bothered to turn round and ask if I was okay. They do barely anything to prevent bullying, from the multiple cases I reported, only one was even remotely dealt with, by simply moving me away from the people bullying me, and that took over three months to actually happen. Also, they seem to not care about the students originality, preaching how everyone is different and unique, then forcing extremely strict uniform rules that left everyone looking the same, and not preventing bullying when someone, like myself, express their unique tastes such as Anime or Pokemon. I spent years being uncomfortable in school because I became to scared to come out with my true gender in fear of no support from the school and being bullied by my peers, so I spent two years being called the wrong name and feeling trapped and it contributed massively to my depression. The ACE crew, who should help children who feel bad or depressed, are very bad with almost anyone who is not recorded on their radar at year 7 and the few times I have gone their they have been pathetic and did nothing to help me at all. Though academically the school isn't that bad and does genuinely have a few good teachers that actually care about how their students do in their exams, it is the worse place for anyone who is extremely unique, suffer from any mental illnesses or feels that they are under the LGBT spectrum's, and would highly recommend you find another school for your child, because comming here may do more harm then good for your child.

The definition of middle class. Every student competes with each other over whose parents have a deepest pockets to fund their expensive habits such as gaming or clothes. Your SAT tests you take in year 6 are irrelevant in this school for sets in year 7 as once you get there, you sit similar exams again. The school's gifted and talented register is determined at year 7 whether you meet the quota or not and is set in stone after that; However it is pointless as gifted students do not receive any further help. The discipline at the school is achieved through shouting and extreme punishments for minor things, for example some of the students at the school a year ago recieved after school detentions for not wanting to participate as much as other students in PE. Finally the school is still in debt from years ago and so the whole school suffers especially those doing coursework based subjects as they are limited to only 10 pages to print in BnW ink per week. The best thing you can do for your child is to send them to a better school in the area such as Reepham as there is a bus that arrives daily to take you to the school from Taverham so why even bother with this school.

During the six weeks I had off I got an industrial bar, which is a cartilage piercing instead of the simple lobe piercing. I am in year 10 now so I am able to make my own decisions just as school encourages you to do. The past two days of school (it's only just started) have been fine but now I have been pulled away and been told that I HAVE to either take it out or I will lose my break and lunch for the entire year! Not even just once a week, the entire year... I can't take it out for another year and if I was to decide to take it out, I would go through so my pain by the teacher doesn't care about that, it's either take it out or they take my freedom. The teachers are always trying to get us to make our own decisions and to do what makes us happy but now I've done something to make me happy and make my own decision they're basically bullying me and making me feel bad about getting it and taking away my happiness again. Other people have 'illegal' school piercings but nothing is done about them, my friend has the same thing and she is going to be kept from doing her work for GCSE art at break which she needs to do. They don't care about us but about the reputation of the school.

I think it is a poor school education wise. Most of the teachers aren't there because they enjoy teaching it's just purely for the money and some are not very approachable if you need help with work. Many times i have been promised extra help and have not recieved it,in the winter the classrooms are always freezing cold and i am literally shaking then in the summer it's boiling hot! The uniform policy is ridiculous and does not let students be their own person and as laura has previously said the jumper issue is so stupid. Also many of my lessons this year have been taught by supply teachers instead of the alocated teacher for each subject, the school is also very poor at dealing with punishing students that can't behave themselves and bully others. I would not recommend this school to anybody as it seems to be getting worse year by year.

Have to say I am disappointed with this school overall - as many reviews have said they seem to be happy that pupils aim to be average. Teachers are a mixed bunch - some are excellent and really care, others seem less enthusiastic. It is a shame as this school has a lot of potential - but I do not feel they are not getting the best of out staff and pupils alike.
