CNC Turning is an intricate and detailed method of creating custom parts and components using a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) lathe. Turning is a highly skilled, Precision Engineering process, based around one of the oldest machine tools in the world – the lathe. Gundrilling is a deep hole drilling process using carbide cutting tools to produce holes in metal at high depth-to-diameter ratios. Gundrilling is at its most effective in diameters from 1 – 50mm. A gundrill differs from a conventional twist drill by its unique head geometry; a gundrill has 2 effective cutting edges that remove chips as it advances into a metal workpiece. The gundrilling process is able to drill deep holes beyond what is possible with conventional machinery, by using high pressure coolant for clean chip exhaust, even at extreme depths. In the honing operation, a rotating tool carrying abrasives removes metal from the interior surface of a bore or cylinder. The main purpose is to produce a bore to the required diameter and geometric cylindricity. Alongside this, the honing process also greatly improves the surface finish of the bore. Milling is a process performed with a machine in which the cutters rotate to remove the material from the work piece. Milling machines have multiple axis which allow the component to move around the cutter at specific angles. Milling is one of the manufacturing processes used in the machine shop to manufacture high precision products and parts of different shapes and sizes. As a leader in our field, top-quality service comes as standard – proof of which can be seen in our list of accreditations and affiliations. We have B-S E-N ISO 9001:2015 and UKAS certifications, as well as ties to Safran, Martin-Baker, Cosworth and the Motorsport Industry Association.
