Stowmarket Community Centre

Stowmarket Community Centre is owned and managed by Stowmarket Town Council and has a range of rooms available for hire at competitive rates.

Community groups, businesses and individuals from across Stowmarket use our Community Centre as a place for learning, networking, fitness, volunteering and bringing people together.

We have a range of rooms for hire of varying sizes, suitable for many different activities and events. Flexible furniture throughout the building makes it possible to arrange each room hire to suit customer needs. There is free Wi-Fi throughout, secure bike storage, free car parking, baby changing facilities and a fully equipped kitchen. The building is fully accessible including wheelchair ramps and disabled toilet facilities. We have a range of gym mats, flipcharts, tables, chairs and other equipment available for you to use.

Gainsborough Room Our Gainsborough room is carpeted and furnished with the option of opening a serving hatch through to the full-size kitchen next door. The solid, lockable hatch doors keep noise and smells from the kitchen to a minimum if the two spaces are being used for separate activities. The Gainsborough room makes a great meeting room or activity room in its own right, or a convenient space for serving food and drinks prepared in the kitchen if desired. It’s also possible to project onto a plain wall in this room. Suitable for gatherings of up to thirty people.

Kitchen
Our well-equipped, modern kitchen is available for use either in conjunction with your room booking or as a separate private hire upon request. A large cooker is available for the re-heating of previously prepared cooked food, as well as a fridge, microwave and ample working space for preparing and storing cold snacks and refreshments. Hot water is available for making tea and coffee, and there is a large sink for cleaning up afterwards. It is possible to open a serving hatch through to the adjoining Gainsborough room, or to keep the hatch closed and use the kitchen separately.

Main Hall
The largest room in the Community Centre is our main hall. The hall is regularly used for a wide range of activities and clubs. There are a large number of chairs and tables available making it an ideal venue for gatherings of up to 80 people. The main hall can also be divided into two sections with a retractable door. The small part is ideal for smaller gatherings of up to thirty people, and the larger section is suitable for forty to fifty people.

There is also a retractable door between the Main Hall and the Gainsborough Room to enable the two to be opened up to create a larger space. Either the whole Main Hall or the large part of the Main Hall can be hired out in conjunction with the Gainsborough Room.

Milton Room
Our Milton Room has a wooden floor, lots of natural light and is a great space for a range of creative courses, workshops and classes. This room has easy access to both the kitchen and reception area.

Constable Room
Our Constable Room is suitable for a number of activities and uses. It is a bright and airy room which is ideal for fitness activities, baby and toddler groups and more.

Munton and Fison Room
Our Munton and Fison Room is similar in size to the Milton and Gainsborough Rooms but unlike the other rooms it has its own kitchenette.

The room is carpeted and has comfortable chairs, this room is ideal for small conferences or training courses and has excellent access to the toilets.

Hire Charges
The prices below are “per hour” and include use of kitchen and centre facilities.

Important note on venue hire for party celebrations: Rooms are available to be hired for party celebrations which are to be attended by children up to and including 12 years old and under adult supervision. Please note, for parties a compulsory insurance charge of 10% is added to the hire price.
