Welcome......
Join us from September when we shall be putting the James back into the St James Tavern!
Originally Established in 1859, this great little pub starts its latest adventure serving up delicious food and cask ales. The SJT retains much of its historic charm reimagined for the current times. The cosy tavern supports local produce and talent, served up with a twinkle of charm.
Come and join us for lunch or supper and/or a decent pint (or two!)… furry friends most welcome..

Joanna Alcedo5 StarLittle out of main high street but worth the little walk. Its cosy, quiet and amazing food. We had the roast pork. Best we have had in a long while. Male bar tender most helpful and accommodating.Monday 4th July 2022
Beryl and Paul5 StarFriendly welcome, well kept Wadworth ales, nice lunchtime sandwiches with chips and salad. Sausage was great on fresh brown bread. Clean and comfy with outdoor seating.Monday 23rd May 2022
Mark Collins5 StarJust experienced my first Pie & Pint (or wine) at the SJT.. Lush!.. I know it's Wednesday and I should be watching the waist line but what the hell.. The Chicken, Ham & Leak pie is worth getting fat for, lovely Veg, Mash & Gravy.... Hmmm best plan that long walk in the morning.Wednesday 5th October 2022
Tom Cousins5 StarStill hands down the best roast in Winchester in terms of flavour, portion size & price - extremely hard to fault!
Plus a lovely, characterful old pub, with warm & friendly service.
It's excellent!Sunday 11th September 2022
Richard Arkle5 StarRecently under new ownership and the food has been taken to the next level. We've had several lunches, mostly serving the classics which are top quality and great value. Staff/Landlord remain as friendly ever. Wadworth traditional ales with a few hoppy beers on the side. Smashing pub.Friday 30th September 2022
