This is used for all sorts of local events and has a lovely garden leading down to the Thames. I can't say what it's like as B&B, but it is a delightful old building.

People I know who stayed there have been most impressed. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and most welcoming. Rooms are very good value for what they are, and worth booking in advance so as not to be disappointed. Staff are lovely to deal with too.

Beautiful, well tended gardens and a historic building. Very peaceful and calm, quiet and relaxing. Feels like a country retreat and it's quite a shock when you walk out the gate to find yourself right in the middle of town

I'm not reviewing the b&b aspect of St Ethelwold's; in any case it's first and foremost a spiritual centre. However I would love to comment on the fact that they welcome passersby, allowing them to wander in freely and take advantage of the beautiful gardens, which go right down to the Thames. There are picnic tables beneath the trees and a box for donations, should you feel inclined, near the exit.

We sat in the glorious gardens one sunny morning and it is so peaceful and tranquil, you would forget that you are in a town. Just a lovely place to rest and unwind from everything.
