In the centre of Sidmouth is the large church dedicated to St. Giles and St. Nicholas. This church has some amazing stained glass - much more than any of the other churches we have visited this summer. It includes the West Window donated by Queen Victoria and one piece of medieval stained glass in the Lady Chapel. We took many photos and have uploaded them to Google, so you can look at them. Unusually, for an Anglican Church, the Church also has the Stations of the Cross around the walls. We wouldn't have spotted these, but as we were taking photos of the windows a friendly gentleman, stewarding the church pointed them out to us. The Church also did nice coffee and cakes, so we had coffee and a delicious piece of Walnut and coffee cake. A lovely visit, thanks for looking after us so well.

Really beautiful church with a lovely atmosphere. We're visiting for Sidmouth Folk Week and I had been really struggling all day to get my 5 ½ month old son to nap - thankfully the church is open every day, so we popped inside. He had a lovely sleep, and I got to enjoy some quiet time in a beautiful, safe haven of tranquility. Afterwards, my son enjoyed playing in the children's corner. The church volunteers were really kind and helpful. Thank you for making us feel so welcome. (NB Toilets/baby changing/disabled were only unlocked before church service - not sure if open on other days if/when church is not staffed.)

Gloriously English ! And the tea was wonderful but the cakes well how do we describe them. Heavenly I guess ! The volunteers were very helpful and friendly, obviously had time to chat if required . To sum it up one of the best experiences . Malcolm and Deborah Bourn ( Norfolk )

Lovely historic church with beautiful stained glass windows and Mason's marks visible on some of the window stonework.
