Welcome to The Ship & Trades

Boasting a beautiful marina setting and a stylish modern design, the Ship and Trades is a unique place to dine, drink and stay in Chatham.

It’s a contemporary bar, restaurant and hotel overlooking one of the yacht basins at the former Royal Naval Dockyard - with extensive waterfront seating offering panoramic views across the River Medway to historic Upnor Castle.

The views are every bit as special from the inside, with a glass-panelled wrap-around restaurant serving up supreme marina vistas along with delicious fresh food. In the bar, meanwhile, you can feast your eyes on an extensive range of local cask ales, world wines and international lagers - all kept and served to the highest standard.

There are 15 beautiful boutique bedrooms here too, each stylishly designed with a nod to the location’s nautical heritage, and promising some of the best accommodation in Chatham.

A peaceful night’s sleep, a tasty breakfast and the chance of a magical marina view are just some of the reasons to make The Ship & Trades your base for a  memorable Kent getaway.

The atmosphere is amazing and they have a good selection of craft and bottled beers all with a good wine selection. The food is absolutely amazing as well. Definitely recommend here. They have outdoor seating with an enclosed area and heat lamps as well as table ordering.

Hot food served on cold plate. Waitress brought plate holding a tea towel told plate hot, touched plate cold. Food served covered in salt. I don't have salt, waitress apologised. Got free dessert didn't want, took 10% of bill. Service charge also included, told to take this of. Place in need of spring clean, blue glass balls covered in dust. One light was hanging by its wires out of its socket holder. Table wasn't clean when arrived although laid ready to eat. More care required from management and supervisor, staff training definitely required. Menu choices good, outlook good. Will revisit at later date to see if improvements are in place.

Great food and a very nice riverfront themed restaurant. I'd say value for money for food too. Neither my wife nor I could fully finish our meal. Only drawback was the calamari was a bit over cooked and on the rubbery side. It's a very easy thing to over cook so no big deal.

Read the reviews before going and looked really good, it wasn't ! Half the food on the online menu wasn't on the menu they gave us. Steak and ale pie turned up still frozen inside and not cooked rump steak requested cooked blue, turns up medium and cold. Most restaurants would of taken both meals back and cooked fresh, well that didn't happen, ended up eating a separate times. Coffee after the meal yes you guessed it cold. Would i recommend? The answer is simply no. For the price you pay look elsewhere.
