DOCUMENT 'L' - Manufacture, Installation & Refurbishment
April 2002 saw the introduction of NEW Building Regulations in England and Wales designed to set standards for energy efficiency (conservation of fuel and power in buildings) - these Regulations are known as Document ‘L’.
The Document ‘L’ Building Regulations apply to virtually all new buildings in England and Wales, and to extensions, alterations and change of use of existing buildings. They provide legislation and guidance to the building, construction and home improvement installation industry.
With effect from 1st April 2002 any windows, rooflight or doors having more than 50% glazing need to comply with the new regulations. These regulations also apply to conservatories attached to a building. This means that the combined frame and double glazing units will need to be more efficient and must be tested and certified to comply.
In October 2010, the Government’s Approved Document ‘L’ (Fuel Conservation) was issued and extends Building Regulations to cover replacement window and door installations, requiring them to comply with improved energy efficiency. One of the main drivers is the need to reduce heat loss in order to conform to more stringent energy efficiency targets. Glass products will be expected to have lower heat loss, measured by their ‘U’ value.

The fitters Dan and Nick were friendly, professional and did a very clean job leaving no mess after each days work. From start to finish the Rydale team were excellent. Michael Parkes5 StarRydale fitted my porch over 10 years ago and it is still looking good. So when I needed new front windows - bays upstairs and downstairs and 3rd room, I decided to go straight there for a quote.
From start to finish, enquiry, survey/quote, detailed survey and fitting, these are a professional company and did a fantastic job. Way better insulation and quality than the old ones taken out - and we have had several compliments from neighbours - they do look great.
I didn't get alternate quotes (unlike me), but you know you are going to get a great product and service from Rydale - and it was actually a little cheaper than I had budgeted for so win, win win.Tuesday 26th October 2021
Ummer Yousaf5 StarFrom the second you walk into the showroom you know you're making the right decision. With a no hassle sales team they're happy for you to look around without any pressure. Our conservatory was done via planning permission which Rydale handled all themselves. Once they knew what we wanted any potential obstacles were overcome with a number of solutions. We couldn't have asked for more in the design process. Phil is a great asset to the company constantly updating us throughout the build which was done throughout coronavirus but Rydale made sure we were not disappointed at any stage. Phils high standards meant we hardly had to check anything as he was meticulous in ensuring we had our dream conservatory. All the tradesmen were exceptional with customer service at the forefront, as a customer I really cant praise them enough. Thank you guys for all your hard work it really has been appreciated, the conservatory looks stunning and the quality is honestly second to none. If you want a hassle free conservatory Rydale is the only place to go and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone!Sunday 13th December 2020
