The first time we ate here we were very impressed , unfortunately today was a different story. We had lunch, I had steak and ale pie only 3 small pieces of meat were edible, although they were slightly tough, the rest was just gristle. When we expressed our disappointment all we were told was they would mention it to the chef, no recompense for a very poor meal. We will definitely never return

We stayed only one night but did have dinner as well. Good service lovely food apart from the cheese board which was a bit disappointing. Our room was well decorated with a comfortable bed and a large shower room. It was quite small and didn't have a smart television. We did find it extremely hot and as it was a garden room we couldn't leave the door open to let in some air. The location was excellent and staff were very helpful.

A wonderful place to stay. The people were very friendly and the room was lovely. Service to get served was a bit slow but the place was very busy. Checkout was a bit slow too but not really a problem as we weren't in a hurry. The food was a bit underdone for my liking but maybe others would like it that way. A pleasant enough stay and we'd definitely return if we were in the area

We stayed in the cottage and loved it. A young lady with blonde hair who looked after us on arrival, at breakfast and checkout was absolutely brilliant. Thank you for such a warm welcome and for making a difficult visit (we were there for a double funeral) more bearable. I will be back with my family in the future. My late Mum used to be head chef here back in the 90s and it's always been a special place so it was good to finally return.

Booked Sunday lunch for five. When the food arrived mine was cool and my friends were just warm. I told the waitress and she apologised, took mine away and brought me a piping hot one. The others ate theirs as they were too hungry to wait. The roast beef was delicious. Service was a bit hit and miss to say they weren't busy. Beer was good.
