Me and my partner had a viewing with Stuart. Safe to say the worst viewing ever, he was rushing, rude and simply seemed to not care at all. Judging from the rest of the reviews on here this company seems to be a farce. Stay away.

I rented from this agency in 2011 and I am still very bitter about their awful service and terrible treatment of myself and friends. The agency used to arrive at the house unannounced whenever they liked and call us while at work to announce that they had entered the property (unlawfully) and then proceed to complain that it was not clean, or that something needed servicing, or to decorate. If you are looking to rent in this area, avoid this estate agent.

Very professional and offering a good service to us. Always able to talk. NO power selling and constantly biting your heels to make decisions, very relaxed and helpful. Reasonable rates and easy contracts. Would highly recommend. Elspie and Ian run a very high quality service. Marc is very efficient and helpful and professional.

Takes the biscuit! It's a shame that an estate agent don't care about tenants. We had a generally smooth transition moving to our home, and all seemed perfect. However in the period of the covid-19 pandemic Redhouse estate agents in Portland have been terrible with communication through emails. On a yearly basis there is a legal requirement for the agency to do property checks, we accept but only when we are present. So let me make this clear, you have the right to arrange an appropriate date and time for your home to be inspected. However, if you do not relpy to email, the inspection will go ahead. Simple isn't it? Well not really! Redhouse last year 2020 had arranged for an inspection of the property we reside in. We had replied and rearranged a date for a Tuesday, stating I'm always home on this day. We had a reply from another colleague at Redhouse saying they will rechedule the visit. My wife being sceptical about this inspection, we decided to adopted a low key security measure, to tell if anyone had gained access to our rented home without us knowing. At the end of day returning home from work we had noticed undoubtedly this measure had been compromised. The next day I called Redhouse and asked if the viewing had taken place. Spoke with a chap who confirmed it indeed did. I was fuming, not because they had gone ahead, but they disregarded but agreed to arrange a new date, as we wanted to be present. He denied ever seeing the email and stated the inspection will go ahead if they do not receive confirmation or to rearrange a more appropriate date and time at the time email was sent. Calmly but also angry inside, I told him I have a returned email from his colleague saying they will rearrange a new date for inspection. Chap on the phone became flustered saying 'are you calling me a liar. 'YES' I replied. He hung up! I then called again saying he was unacceptable and rude and very unprofessional. All he could do was stammer his words and get flustered on the phone as I made a complaint. Nothing was ever done nor did we get an apology. It happened for a second time in Nov 2021. Emails was exchanged, calls was made to arrange inspection, but had to be cancelled due to being positive for coronavirus. A few days later, I was still at home self isolating. And I was sceptical again and convinced someone was still going to arrive for inspection. I heard knock on the door, and I waited and watched as this person tried to gain entry. He knocked the door, letterbox and tried the door handle. Then he fumbled in his back for a few minutes as I watched through the glassed door at a distance, but couldn't see me. After the second attempt with a key I appeared at the door, shouting, who are you? How dare you break in! He knocked the door. I then opened the door slightly and angrily announced, we sent an email, I have coronavirus. He jumped back and left after apologising. My wife complained. Again emails and different colleagues at Redhouse got involved and some denied cancellation due to covid. A female colleague admitted saying she didnt understand why this happened. My wife kindly pointed out, if one person dealt with a tenant at one time, instead of others getting involved, these mistakes won't happen. Officially we made a complaint to never get an apology from the proprietor of Redhouse, nor for the mistakes made on there behalf. If this happens again our complaint and evidence will be forwarded to the local complaints commission and hopefully put them under review. Also Elspie is one unacceptable person with a poor attitude to others and has no people skills. Directly rude, never except responsibility for poor management and blames it on others to easily. Log all forms of contact if you decide to use Redhouse Estate agents on Portland, as there are two many fingers in the pie and no one person deals with tenants throughout and mistakes are easily made, as no one communicates effectively. I've never known such a poorly managed Estate agency.
