The Pavers story began over 50 years ago in York. Founded by Catherine Paver, a mother to three boys, she had big dreams of changing the world of footwear and a passion to provide comfortable and stylish shoes to all. Cathy went to the bank for a business loan and was told it couldn’t be done. So, with her tenacious and determined spirit, Cathy returned, taking out a £200 loan for what they believed was for a sofa, and this is where Pavers Shoes was born.Created from small beginnings, Pavers Shoes has grown to be a UK leader in today’s comfort footwear industry, continuing as an independent, family-run business. With almost 50 years of shoe-fitting knowledge behind us and an innovative spirit inherited by Cathy, our homegrown heritage and family values remain firmly at the core of everything that we do.

Very well stocked shoe shop, all sizes stocked and also wide fit in many styles. Quite expensive, but if they have what you need, then you have to pay their prices.

I had bought a pair of Pavers boots from their outlet at Boundary Mills but decided they were too tight. I decided to Visit the Rowsley store and had the most amazingly helpful sales assistant - Jodie. I have one foot/ankle wider than the other which is a problem when trying to buy footwear but she was unfazed and brought me loads of boots to try on. I managed to find a full price knee high pair and a Sketchers ankle boot at a reduced price AND I was able to get a refund on the pair I returned even though I hadn’t bought them there. I highly recommend this store and the staff they employ.

We tried to enter immediately after both myself and mother had just been to the adjacent toilet and washed hands and used hand gel. It was my mother's 90th birthday and we were going in to buy her new shoes. On entering a couple of yards we were immediately shouted at by one of the senior staff on the till for trying to enter without using the gel. To be honest we had not immediately noticed the gel table but all we got was a bad attitude and to be told that you had to use gel when entering all shops. We had not seen any notice to say this but we are more than happy to oblige if we are asked in a courteous manner. We had our own gel we had been regularly using so we are certainly happy to go along with any reasonable rules to keep everyone as safe as possible. It was my mother's 90th birthday and I was going to treat her but the attitude of the member of staff made us both turn around and walk back out. I think the female member of staff needs to learn how to approach elderly customers in a decent manner. Until then we will shop elsewhere.
