The first time I visited the lady on guard was rude and so I left. When I returned there was a man greeting customers and he was kind and got me settled with a colleague. This staff member helped me with my service issues. All the while the other staff member was providing exceptional care to customers who came and went.

Use to be a good store with competent friendly staff. But now they're just too busy and even rude! We found them inexplicably unfriendly and unhelpful. Despite being long time customers we didn't get anywhere. We had to go elsewhere and won't be using 02 in future! It's one thing to disagree on tech issues. It's another to be incompetent and offensive to loyal paying customers. Many local alternatives still know how to treat customers so we'll be changing providers.

I rang the O2 (Telefonica UK Ltd) shop in Newton Abbot on Friday to complain about feeling miss-sold on my Virgin Media connection and my new A12 Galaxy Samsung that was not sending and receiving texts that I had purchased the same day in February 2022. I spoke to a woman (she had nothing to do with the sale) who did not ask for my name and kept calling me 'luv' in a rude and condescending tone and was talking over me all the time. However, I arranged to pass by the shop the next morning. I arrived at the shop at 10.50hrs and was greeted by a smart, polite young man who enquired as to what it was I required. But then, this very casually dressed woman who had been lounging on the display case interrupted and asked if I had called the day before. I said yes - and she then proceeded to harangue me about my complaint over the phone and that I would have to wait for an appointment as there was a queue. There was nobody waiting in a queue at the shop - another assistant was dealing with a group of customers and she was doing nothing other than lounging on the display case. When I asked her exactly when I should return - she accused me of being rude! But said to return at 11.30 - 11.45hrs. I returned at 11.30hrs - to an empty shop, apart from the same customers being attended to. The smart, young man offered me a seat as I had a bad back and was using a walking stick that day and sat at a customer service table waiting. The rude woman came out of the back offices 5 minutes later with a look of thunder on her face when she saw me sitting there - and basically went up to the young man to find out why I was there. She then decided to deal with me herself, but continually banged on about how rude I was in complaining in the first place. To which I continually asked her to focus on getting my mobile phone working properly. Because I was not kowtowing to her rantings - she suddenly got up from her chair as other customers entered the shop and shouted at me saying if I did not stop being rude to her I would not be seen and I would be thrown out of the shop and would give me 5 minutes to calm down! I could not believe it - I had not once raised my voice to her, but simply asked her to focus on the job in hand and then I would be on my way! But I did say loudly that I was a 64 yr-old woman and was it her aim to have me with no functioning phone as a long-standing O2 customer? She was literally trying to embarrass me in front of the whole shop. It turns out that the SIM card had not been put in the right place in my phone and I had not been thoroughly briefed on the updated O2 Pay As You Go which should have been in my phone in order for it to work properly. But did she apologize - NO!! This woman has no place in retail services and requires complete retraining in how to present herself as well as how to deal with valued customers. If she is still working at this shop in the future, I will be going elsewhere for my 02 customer services. I felt so sorry for the other two assistants who had to witness her behaviour.
