Unfortunately northants computers told me they could not source the part and were unwilling to put this in writing so I could claim on insurance if needed. Joe offered to support and said he would get back to me in the morning, set expectations in terms of price to look at the fault. He managed to get back to me the same day, and didn't charge for part of service he easily could have done. Very grateful for the help.
Will definitely be recommending the shop to others, and will use again for my computing needs.
