Moorlands is a lovely home, full of warmth and friendly staff. You feel like you are with a big family when you enter the home.

My relative has been a resident at Moorlands for over three years and a family member has visited every day. At no time have any of us ever seen anything other than the most amazing care and compassion by all of the people who work there. The atmosphere is friendly, the home is clean and offers a very safe environment. The food is of a very high standard as well, confirmed by the number of family members who also request a meal when visiting. I could not be happier with the care my relative receives on a daily basis

My Grandmother died here in 2015. As a family we were gutted to have to place her here and to witness the deterioration in her care compared to her previous nursing home. We visited in November and found her (bed bound and immobile) next to open windows, no covers on and her nighty around her midrift. When we repeatedly asked staff about concerns, we were met by resistance. Two or three of the individual carers were amazing but overall management did not seem to care or make time for relatives. The activity schedule was poor to barely existent and the overall standard of care was the same. In her last few weeks of life we would visit most days only to find her with the emergency bell out of reach, often with no covers and no drinks or food within reach. I still have pictures of the bruises to her upper arms where she had been improperly manually handled. Management couldn’t have cared less. In five words, my advice to anyone considering Moorlands.... ‘Don’t put your relative here!’ I’m a trainee nurse about to qualify and have worked in healthcare for over ten years, this is not acceptable care and from recent reviews it does not seem to have improved either. This home is a disgrace to the caring profession.

I would go as far as to say that gross negligence from Moorlands Care Home in Lightwater caused an early death to a relative of mine. The conditions and lack of responsible care which these poor elderly people are subjected to here is nothing short of criminal. I wish to God we had been able to avoid my relative ending up here. The lack of hygiene falls short on so many levels, so much so that I shall save you the disgust and avoid being specific about it. If you are considering placing a relative or someone you care about at this “care” home, I strongly advise you to consider elsewhere. It still causes our family much distress that we could not afford to place our relative somewhere elsewhere. Residents are often left isolated and treated like cattle and understandably lose the will to live. A horrible place to spend your last days.
