I'm writing to say two things: 1) The previous review is so wildly unjustified and unrelatable that it's risible. Marie is well-known in Designermakers21, in the Diss area and through the Suffolk Craft Society for a fastidious attention to detail and personable, likeable manner. I've never heard of her having these kind of troubles and I've known her and her colleagues for many years - I'm convinced it says far more of the reviewer. 2) I've a collection of jackets and corsages made by Marie over the years and they have been faultless and widely praised by complete strangers. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her sewing services, and she would not have been accepted into a myriad of other organisations and events if it weren't for such quality of workmanship.

I went to see Marie to have a dress and jacket made for my son’s wedding. I paid her for the pattern to be made up and I had bought some beautiful fabric in London. To start with everything went well until the final fitting. It was like putting on a straight jacket. The jacket was ruined, nothing could be done, although I was upset I paid her bill minus the work on the jacket . I then bought a jacket which she put some braid on to tie in with the dress only to find that some of the braid had faded (it had obviously been sitting around for a long time in her work room) . So I took it back to to her to see if she she could replace the braid , she wasn’t prepared to do both sides so that it matched and she said that none of it was her fault -suggesting it was mine!! Until this point I hadn’t said anything to her and after a few minutes of her telling me how unaccommadating I had been etc , etc an argument ensued and She reluctantly gave me the money back £70 for the braid and said she wanted the braid back. I hadn’t asked for any recompense for the fabric that she ruined which cost me approx £200, . The dress cost me £200 to be made up plus the fabric and after spending at least £550 I still don’t have an outfit to wear. Marie obviously can’t accept that she was at fault and the caption at the top of her page. “ Sew What Marie” just about sums her up. I have written this lengthy review because of her bad attitude to myself as a customer. I certainly would not recommend her.

I had a wonderful experience with Marie. My sister is getting married and being a bridesmaids I needed to wear pink. However dresses aren’t my thing so I found a pink mens suit. Marie was able to offer her expert opinion and skill to alter the mens suit jacket so that it fit me perfectly, she provided an excellent service at a very reasonable price and is an absolutely lovely person. I would recommend her to anyone if they needed her services.

I’ve met Marie many times now - in Diss and at local events. Such well-crafted work, a really good eye for detail and colour-matching and a lovely, knowledgable person. We’ve just met again at the Suffolk Food Hall/Deben Events and I’m pleased to see and hear how her business is growing and, finally!!, online. It’s a pleasure to leave a review recommending her skills and I’ll look forward to seeing her again later this year for some special Christmas gifts. 👌🪡🧵😀

Just picked up my new jacket from Marie at Designermakers21 in Diss. The fit is perfect, tailoring faultless and choice of lining, buttons and finishing detail show flair and real imagination. I bought the tweed for the jacket from a hand weaver on Harris in the Hebrides. I gave the tweed to Marie along with photos from a couple of websites and asked her to make a jacket for me. This hand made bespoke jacket is of the highest quality yet cost me much less than the off the peg jackets it was inspired by. Marie focuses more on women’s tailoring, I saw the quality and flair of her work at Designermakers21. I had wanted a less structured “Nehru” style tweed jacket for sometime but, could not buy one or find a tailor to break with “tweed tradition” and make me one. I managed to persuade Marie to make me a Nehru tweed jacket even though she had to learn and perfect some new male tailoring skills. The resulting jacket made from Tweed from Aberfeldy Mill is unique, immaculately finished and fits me perfectly. Marie has made me several jackets and coats over the last couple of years, I have bought the tweed, vague ideas and photos. She has supplied the vision, skills, inspired choice of finishing material. Marie’s customer focus and understanding are faultless. She also has a real gift for colour balance in the material she uses. Marie has asked me several times if I really need another jacket? Probably not but, given the uniqueness and quality of what she does and the very reasonable cost, why not? I suggest you see her sooner rather than later, she is bound to get busier, waiting time increase and perhaps her prices will get more in line with the quality of what she creates?
