The food was great but unfortunately hygiene and service wasn't up to it's usual standard. When we sat down the table was cleared but not cleaned. The order was and the main course arrived which was lovely. Unfortunately we had to wait a few minutes for cutlery. After we finished we had to get our own dessert menus and my friend the dishes that weren't cleared on another table. They were finally and our desserts but the ice-cream that we ordered turned out to be mostly gone and glasses were still on our table. We had to change our dessert order and we ordered our coffees for fear of waiting any longer. The desserts finally arrived at 3.45 pm which was just before we were considering out. We wanted to spend some time shopping in Rayleigh but we spent most of the time trying to get something to eat. We have decided not to visit this restaurant the next time we are in Rayleigh but we hope that things will improve in the future and I can leave a tip.

Went there with family a couple of weeks back. Great quality fish and chips. If you are feeling hungry it's worth paying the £1.50 to upgrade to a larger portion...it's almost twice the size! Would highly recommend.

Been using King's for many years, and until Last couple months always thought it the best in Rayleigh, but last few times been somewhat disappointed. On one occasion definitely old hard kept warm chips, and another couple times regular portion not enough to feed a mouse! Suspect the latter down to constantly changing young girls on the counter....

Our only problem was the uneven floor which included a wobbly table We both had to drink our tea from a saucer Ps the food was lovely and the young lady that served us was superb Her side SKIP needs a little bit of customer training

Made a special trip to Rayleigh it's so nice to see grilled fish dishes on the Menu. I had grilled Tuna with real chips, while my husband John thoroughly enjoyed grilled Skate wing, we have now decided we much prefer to go to this fish and chip shop rather than the sea front in Southend 😎. Thank you Kings for a wonderful experience.
