We reported a broken radiator valve to the office. The response was extremely rapid, a photo of the necessary replacement was taken and within days an engineer arrived to replace it. This task was carried out swiftly as were the necessary checks to the central heating system. Useful additional advice was provided by the helpful young engineer. Excellent service - as has been all the other support we've needed from Johnson Scotia!

Came to fix my boiler today. Lovely engineer. Chatty and friendly and can I certainly recommend Ben. Knew his stuff and although I’m now waiting for a part, he explained the problem and left me with the knowledge that my boiler will soon be back to working order. I had an engineer turn up two weeks ago from the same company and I couldn’t say the same. Although friendly, the visit was rushed and a cursory glance at the boiler left me feeling confused as to what would happen next. Seeing Ben today has turned my opinion of the company 180 degrees. I mean, why can’t they all be like him? If you receive abrupt service when you call their office, if they don’t return your calls when you leave a message… the engineer makes up for it.

These cowboys were instructed to contact me by my boiler plan annual plan company to arrange a service and should have done so within 48 hrs. Alas, the 48hrs came and went with no contact. I attempted to contact them directly approx. 96hrs later and none of their advertised numbers actually allowed me to speak to someone, I left a message, but no call back was received. Eventually I managed to established contact only by going back to my boiler care company who had a direct number (one which is not provided to customers). A service date was set for 6th September 2022, and I was assured by Johnston Scotia representative that I would receive communication the day before (5th Sept 2022) regarding a time slot. No communication was received. The engineer did attend at approx. 2.45pm on 6th September 2022 and was onsite for no more than 45mins. The engineer asked if there were any problems, and I stated the system pressure was low. This I thought would have instigated more checks and a possible remedy. This did not happen, and I was informed to keep topping it up.(???) The extent of the service was to remove the condensate trap and wash in the sink, a gas flue check and gas leakage check. No cleaning or hoovering of the boiler was undertaken or checks on the easily accessible expansion vessel valve which would have immediately identified that it had lost pressure and needed recharging! The engineer checked for gas leaks and stated that I have a slight gas leak but its within tolerance as it was fluctuating by 1mbar and tolerance is 4mbar but it’s “only a slight leak!” At this point I knew I was receiving pointless advice as British Gas engineers had attended my home to fit smart meters one month before, and they had recorded the same deviation and explained that is was due to the wind blowing on the external gas feed pipe and nothing to worry about. They even went to the extent of shielding the external feed pipe from the wind and the pressure held steady – Notice the huge difference in customer service to place the customer at ease! I was assured by the engineer who completed the service that I would receive a written copy of the service details and measurements. Disappointingly, 25 days after the service has been completed, I still have received no such documentation. I engaged the services of another boiler engineer after the above debacle, who established that the expansion vessel simply needed recharging with air. He completed this in 15mins, and the boiler system is now working perfectly. Why the Johnston Scotia engineer could not perform the same to bring the boiler back to normal working condition demonstrates to me the lack of care and drive for customer satisfaction. Needless to say, this company failed miserably, and I will certainly never be engaging their services again. From previous experience, companies who receive negative feedback report it as a fake. So, to pre-empt this – My plan number is WRJ0003704 and I will willing provide all the necessary documents in my name to have the review re-instated and highlight the fact the company went to this extreme to have it removed. The reoccurring 5* reviews relating to “Ben” are very suspicious.

They sent an engineer to my address who was supposed to be a heating engineer. I had no heating but had hot water on a property that is only 4 years old. The engineers (he called his boss) to confirm that i had sludge in my system and that I would need a power flush and a magna cleanse. Gladly I didn’t take their offer of fixing it for £995…i called my home emergency assistance who sent out an engineer from another firm who said it was a faulty zone valve and replaced it free of charge as it was covered under the policy!! Rip off merchants…avoid at all costs!!

Appalling service. Been on a care plan with them for a couple of years and finally get an emergency and they let us down. They were going to leave us very cold for 2 weeks over Christmas. Cancelled my account with them, Signed up with British Gas Wednesday night and we were up and Running Friday morning. You definitely get what you pay for. Worth paying the extra.
