Tucked away in the South Hams in this area of outstanding natural beauty is Home Farm. In fact it's so tucked away it can be difficult to find - even wifi struggles to find us! Inside this newly renovated traditional stone hay barn are buffed concrete floors, slate, wood to give a minimal rustic yet contemporary feel. Superking beds in Bantham and Yarmer bedrooms with Emma award-winning mattresses and decadently crinkled 100% linen sheets. Butter Bay bedroom has two European single mattresses (longer!) and soft crinkled muslin bedding. Each room as an en-suite shower room and loo. Glazed stable doors function as a window and door, opening onto the raised walkway and garden, where you can access the kitchen through the bi-fold doors (Bantham room has inside access). In the morning, help yourself at your leisure to continental breakfast of croissants, butter and jam, coffee or tea - made from filtered spring water - in fact, we cannot provide accommodation for pets or children due to the babbling spring just outside the kitchen steps! You are welcome to chill out in the tin roof kitchen. Eat breakfast together at the large dining table which looks out onto the garden, or you might like to put your breakfast on a tray and eat it in the garden. The pub is a short walk up the hill and serves a full English breakfast if you prefer that. We can recommend some other great places to eat and drink, but let us know early to try to get a booking as they fill up fast so to speak! If you let us know early enough we might be able to book you in to a local SUP boarding adventure where you can explore the sea or one of the local rivers with local SUP experts. We can also put you in touch with surf lessons at Bantham or Bigbury. Check-in between 3pm and 6pm, and check out before 11am. Iron and hair dryer available. I classify wifi as almost off-grid! but there is a small signal at times. Parking is roadside and off-road close by the accommodation.

Hi, my name is Susie and I’m a contemporary artist living with my artist husband in this hidden gem old farmhouse ideally placed within easy reach of most of the best beaches. We have recently renovated the old hay barn adjoining the farmhouse and am now delighted to offer the three ensuite superking bedrooms for guests to stay in and share this beautiful place with us. I was born in Devon and I love it here, and this is an especially delightful part of Devon - especially if you love water. I go wild swimming all year round (unless it’s too stormy) and have set up a sea swimming group called The Sprats, so no one has to swim alone - safety in a shoal! I also snorkel and make underwater films. Though still a bit wobbly! I love going stand-up paddle boarding off the many beaches here, and I am learning to surf at Bantham surf beach. Having knowledge and experience of this area, I am able to advise where to explore, be it river, moor, or sea. I can help you book sup, surf, walk, run, picnic, food or doughnut adventures. I also teach yoga upstairs in the airy oak-floored gallery space, and you are welcome to join in to a class at a guest rate, or book a special class just for your selves. Art exhibitions and workshops also go on here too. It is a delight doing up Home Farm and seeing the birds and animals coming more and more into the garden since we dug up the concrete yard, planted it up and allowed the stream to once again flow. The dawn chorus and the evening chorus in spring and early summer from the blackbird "Wingy" and the Song Thrush(no name yet) is raucous! Hedgehogs may make a rustling noise at night and leave traces of their visiting on the walkways! Three different types of woodpecker live in the nearby predominantly beech wood. Butterflies "roar" around the butterfly bushes in the garden and insects abound, inviting in the bats and moths in the evening.

The local pub with good food, and village shop (+ post office) are a short walk up the hill and sells pasties, pastries, fruit and snacks. On the lane to Bantham there is a friendly place to have lunch or coffee called Outside, with a fab skate park. We are excellently located for many wonderful beaches which are all about approximately 3 miles away. One secluded cove in particular is good for snorkelling, spotting seals. There is a nudist beach. You could give it a whirl so to speak! An old smuggling cove is found after a pleasant coastal walk. At the famous surf beach Bantham, you can hire a wetsuit and take some surf lessons, or hire a body board and catch a wave. The Gastrobus here serves good snacks and coffee al fresco. You might prefer to hire or even buy your wetsuit, SUP, and surfboard at the local very helpful water sports shop - Triocean - a 1 minute drive or easy walk up the road. SUP and walking adventures can be arranged in the village with guides. Yoga classes are available upstairs in the with me. Yoga classes are also available in Kingsbridge at Harbour House, plus a gallery and cafe. Kingsbridge is approx. 5 mins away and has a great health shop, leisure centre including gym, squash courts and swimming pool, and many restaurants including a fish+ chip shop, and cinema. In Kingsbridge down by the quay, every first and third Saturday is a farmer's market which sells Dartmoor honey - good enough to eat with a spoon from the jar! From here there is a quay where boats make trips up the river to Salcombe. By road, Salcombe is 4 miles away. There are two local coastal golf courses (Bigbury and Thurlestone) complete with great views and also spas. Walk up to the top of Burgh Island and catch the sunset before a pint in the ancient Pilchard Inn. Gin and rum tasting at Salcombe, and so I hear, the most excellent jam doughnuts! Run it off on a special coastal running track at Bolberry Down, or along the sheltered tree-shaded River Avon. Look for otters!
