Hele Lane Methodist Church

We are an active bible-based church of around 60-70 people, located in the village of Black Dog in rural Mid Devon. Our Sunday services offer a mix of traditional hymns and more modern worship songs as well as activities for young people and children. We are blessed with a variety of visiting preachers as well as regular sermons from our minister, Rev John Wiltshire.

We hold regular events in our community such as youth and holiday clubs, monthly community meals (Fourth Friday Feast) and Keep Fit as well as celebrations such as Harvest Suppers, seasonal coffee mornings (Cuppa Chat) and of course Carols and Mince Pies at Christmas!

If you’re just visiting or are local to the area, we would love to see you at one of our services.

We usually have two services on a Sunday, one at 11:00 for an hour or so that’s attended by the majority of the congregation and incorporates singing, Bible readings and a sermon plus activities for our children and young people. The second service is in the evening at 6:30, again for an hour or so but tends to have a smaller congregation in attendance and is often more traditional.

During the week there are usually home groups meeting to study the Bible and encourage each other plus various youth and community activities.
