I’m an experienced piano teacher in Croydon
establishing a strong foundation in technique and musicianship for you to continue to develop as a musician and make music an important part of your life.
I’ve been teaching piano professionally since 1987, helping children and adults (from 7 to 92!) improve their musical understanding and technique. Lessons are held at my South Croydon home in a dedicated music room on a beautiful Yamaha grand piano.
Piano lessons, workshops and courses
Choose to attend piano lessons on weekdays or Saturdays here in South Croydon. Feel stimulated to practice and play, for enjoyment or to pass exams.
Lessons are also available online via Zoom, with further workshops and courses held on Sundays.
I have clean security vetting from the Criminal Records Bureau (DBS checked).

The Cook Family5 StarOur son has had piano lessons with Gary for a couple of years now, and I would highly recommend him. Gary is not just an extremely accomplished musician himself (surprisingly rare among some teachers) but took time to really get to know our son and work out a programme that’s been right for him and kept him motivated when he might otherwise have given up playing.
Gary is a rare teacher in the breadth of genres he plays and teaches - from Chopin to Charlie Parker. He puts on recital classes for his students from time to time, and also encouraged our son to prepare for performances at local music festivals.Monday 7th February 2022

He’s helped me immensely in so many aspects of piano and music in general, from learning the correct technique to performing with confidence, which has helped me to become a more well-rounded musician and understand the theory and meaning behind the music too. Ruting Su5 StarI've been with Gary since 2017 as an absolute beginner of the piano. Gary is absolutely superb! His teaching method makes you feel safe, confident, and full of passion. Every time I have a lesson with him , I feel that the time just flies because i enjoy it so much. Each time I finish a lesson with Gary, I feel rewarded with more knowledge of how to play the piano better and this drives me to keep going.
