I've been in the tiptree area for almost two years. We've always gone to the maypole and well... Despite it being a bit average we never tried anywhere else until recently. Oh my word. I can't speak highly enough of the experience. I will never go to the maypole again. I thought it was average. It's bottom of the pile compared to gardenia. The chicken balls were just... Amazing! Even the sweet and sour sauce... I mean... It's just sweet and sour source... How can it possibly taste that good? The lemon chicken was to die for. Everything we had, chow mein, dumplings, rice was top 3 if not the best we have ever had. Bloody brilliant!

Ordered yesterday and was able to pick up my order within 10 mins. Sweet and sour sauce was actually sauce and not watery, which ive never seen when ordering from most places. Will most definitely order from here again, food was hot and delicious! Thank you Gardenia 😊 surpassed my expectations.

Very good Chinese, reasonable vegetarian selection, could be a lot better by removing meat and replacing with tofu with the same sauces. Little inconsistencies with sweet and sour sauce pot sizes and whether you get prawn crackers or not. Biggest issue is the lack of credit card ability and when you pay cash its not tilled.... Delivery would be an extra help too

Very good Chinese takeaway (best in area), under new management since June'2016 but the menu and prices do not seem to have changed much, service seemed better and the quality of food is still excellent. They are still accepting cash payments only (no card payments accepted). Appears to remain as popular as ever and therefore very busy around peak times (especially on Friday & Saturday evenings).
