I write this review with a heavy heart as I know people have had good service here, however, my experience wasn’t brilliant. I initially broke down in my C4 Grand Picasso and chose this garage to have the car dropped off at due to a recommendation from a friend. I know the garage does exceptional community work and a family run business so I thought I would go with them. Customer service receptionist is very friendly but can be let down on communications when it comes to calling you back, I found myself hounding them for updates after being told they would call back shortly. Back to the mechanical side. I broke down due to an Anti-Pollution warning and an engine light coming on. The garage fit me in at short notice and changed my fuel pressure sensor and EGR Valve within the week. I paid them around £470.00 for that to be done. I left the garage and drove about an hour before the same warning and engine light came back on. Drove the car for a bit and thankfully it hasn’t yet broken down. But either way, something was amiss. In my mind I’ve paid the garage to fix the problem and made myself skint in the process, yet the garage have told me what they reckon as now the EGR pipes are all clogged up with carbon and need a flush through. A service they do not provide. When I initially asked if they would not check the pipes when changing the EGR Valve the mechanic Steven chuckled and said “absolutely not.” Then began to speak in mechanical terms I couldn’t understand. I have, on E&J Motors suggestion gone to multiple specialist carbon removal services and explained that my garage (E&J motors) have suggested this as the next move. I have been to five specialists who have all told me that they would not recommend their carbon flush services as it’s good practise for garages to change out the EGR Pipes when changing the EGR Valve. Obviously this hasn’t been done. One specialist went on to call whoever changed the EGR Valve, lazy. This puts me in an awkward position now. I’m near on £500 down. The specialists have said a carbon flush is not what I need to fix the problem, the pipes should been replaced and the garage who when I asked if there was a chance the EGR Valve wasn’t the only problem told me “you’ve brought the car in broke, and now it runs. Don’t worry about that engine light and warning.” Unless the garage is willing to fix the issue they could have sorted whilst switching the EGR Valve as they should have initially, as I’m told is good practise from multiple sources, out of courtesy, then I’ll be taking my motor somewhere else unfortunately and my review will remain.
