I gave some work to this person, Darren Johnson, at my business initially, which he completed in time and on budget. For this reason I trusted him to do some major work on my house. That was a huge mistake. He made several mistakes, including putting expensive ceiling lanterns in the wrong place - they were supposed to be central but he measured incorrectly. He also cut corners causing the upstairs flooring to collapse in places, and supervised inadequate and dangerous plumbing and electrical work. He bodged a flat roof, despite taking money from me to pay a professional to do it, resulting in leaks. He took money from me to fit the cabinets in a utility room, but despite empty promises to do it over eight weeks he never did. The worst thing though was his failure to attach the new concrete floor in the extension to the existing wooden floor in the old part of the house. After a few weeks this failed completely. I had to get a tradesman in to take up the whole thing up and redo it properly, and then have the floor re-finished. It is now fine. This was a very messy job and cost £6000. I made Johnson fully aware of the problem and he came to look at it. He said the floor had collapsed because I had put a kitchen island on part of it! He also said that the central heating was to blame, and the guy who had laid the Karndean covering. It collapsed because he didn't attach the two parts. He continued to deny all responsibility. He says that his work is guaranteed. It is not. He is a thief, a cowboy and a liar. Do not engage with this person. If you want to see photos and get further details feel free to contact me.
