Peace and tranquillity is what you’ll find here, along with a mix of level and sloping pitches and a good range of on-site facilities. The California Inn and a shop, both next door to the campsite serve and sell locally produced food.

Nearby Modbury and Ivybridge offer a range of shops and places to eat. The latter will also appeal to walkers. The Two Moors Way starts here, traversing the National Park on its way to Lynmouth on the north Devon coast. Heading south the Erme-Plym Way links Ivybridge to Wembury. The beach here is known for its surfing and rock pooling.

Bigbury on Sea boasts the biggest sandy beach in south Devon. Catch the sea tractor from here to pretty Burgh Island. For windsurfing, canoeing and coastal walks go to nearby Wonwell beach. Mothecombe and Coastguards beaches are also not to be missed.

Pitch Types Explained

Worth Noting

Some pitches are sloping and chocks may be needed. Access to the campsite is along narrow country lanes with passing places. There is no dog walk on-site. TV reception can be poor in some areas.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available. More information.

Eat Local

The California Inn and a shop, both next to site, serve and sell locally-produced food and drink. Farm shop 4 miles away has local organic meat and vegetables, and a Farmers’ Market visits Totnes, Dartmouth, Ivybridge and Kingsbridge every month.

Small peaceful site. Good wifi and radio reception. Helpful staff.Facilities, though very dated ,are very clean and of a perfectly acceptable standard. But we will not return. The access road from the reconmended A38 exit is dreadful. We have a very small caravan but had several very narrow squeaks. And if you have a large caravan and you meet anything other than a car you will have problems...unless by chance there is a bit of a passing place handy. If you are also a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club even that is not an alternative option. Getting there involves even more time on this awful road. So...my advice is look elsewhere. You cannot return to the A38 at the point you left it if en route to the Docks. After enduring the aforementioned awful road you have go via the A3121. An ok route but slower and in wet conditions you arrive at the Docks with a caravan covered in mud and leaves. All in all the location of the site has little to commend it
