…we see our size as a real advantage. As it allows us to keep your care personal. Meaning, at Briarlea, no one gets lost in the crowd. Every resident is valued as an individual, with their care tailored to suit their needs.

Our intimate size also lends itself to the cosy, family atmosphere we cultivate here.  The care team work hard to ensure every resident at Briarlea feels at home; that they’re comfortable; and importantly… that they keep up (or rediscover) their zest for life.

Before coming into care, many people have often lost their confidence. You might have a similar story? Perhaps you’ve suffered a fall at home? Or a diagnosis of dementia that has left you feeling unsure of yourself? For many, social isolation caused by the pandemic has taken away their sparkle. Keeping on top of the housework and day-to-day life becomes an increasing struggle.

If this sounds like you, the support of residential care may be just what you need. We know the prospect of moving to a care home can feel daunting. Our care team have twenty years’ experience walking residents and their loved ones through the very same journey. It’s a big decision for everyone. You’re bound to have reservations.

But if you decide to move to Briarlea, you can count on us to be there with you every step of the way. And by allowing us to take care of all the hard work: cleaning, cooking, laundry & the washing up, you’re free to focus on the things you enjoy. Safe in the knowledge that there’s a helping hand whenever you need it.

My aunt needed to go into a care home in 2017. Briarlea was recommended to us and from our first visit, there was no doubt whatsoever that my aunt could be very happy here. Consequently when my mother needed to go into a care home in early 2020, we knew straight away which care home we could entrust with her care. Both settled in very quickly, which was very much down to the exemplary professionalism of each and everyone of the staff who treated both my aunt and mother with great care and compassion. Both my aunt and mother suffer from dementia as do other residents in the home, however, from my many visits it has been very heartening to see how the the staff make each and every resident feel valued and respected as an individual. The standard of cleanliness throughout the home is of the highest standard, and the residents have access to a wonderful garden which they can sit in and enjoy when the weather permits. There are always plenty of activities for the residents to participate in if they wish to do so. Post pandemic they will also be able to welcome back the popular outside entertainers who put a real smile on their faces! You can also be assured that the residents enjoy a varied and nutritional menu. The pandemic has thrown up many challenges for the management and staff and it is fair to say that they have approached these challenges with great determination, and their usual ‘above and beyond’ attitude. The visitors pod was an excellent innovation which allows visitors to see their relatives safely from behind a glass partition. Phone calls and face time calls are also available to maintain contact with relatives. The communication from the management cannot be faulted as they have ensured that all relatives have been kept up to date with any COVID matters. I write this review with three years experience of the Briarlea Care Home, so I can honestly say I would have no hesitation in highly recommending Briarlea to any family who are facing the difficult decision in choosing a care home for their loved ones.

Having moved my parents-in-law to Briarlea from a large, well known care provider (who has since sold their residential care business), we were delighted with the support they were given in settling into their new environment. The staff were professional, considerate and caring - we could not have asked for more. Over the period of losing her husband, my mother-in-law was looked after with love, care, understanding and consideration in settling into her life without her partner of over 60 years. Briarlea is justly proud that many of their staff have worked together for many years, making them a compassionate team who know their residents well and who treat each as an individual. There is a good range of activities which residents can take part in or just happily watch from the side-lines. When we leave after a visit, we leave with the confidence that all residents are warm, well cared for, safe, well nourished and living in a very homely environment. We wish that we had found Briarlea from the start of our searching for suitable care for our loved ones. The senior management of the home actively encourage feed back, so any concerns can be quickly explained and addressed. It is all to easy to hide behind negative comments in reviews.

I am a vocalist and have been performing at Briarlea Care Home for many years. They are an absolute delight to perform to and really enjoy listening and engaging to my music. The staff are all very friendly & welcoming and extremely committed to their work. The home is always beautifully presented and homely and they have the most fabulous garden. Briarlea is one of my most favourite home to visit and sing at and I can not wait to return when the pandemic is over.

My Mum has dementia and moved into Briarlea February 2020. The staff and management have been great. Their swift action at the start of the pandemic have proven to be the right thing to do. And they deserve a medal having to deal with my Mother every day.

All the staff are caring, helpful and friendly. It is a relief to know that my Mother-in-law is safe and well looked after. If any problems arise, we are informed and the possibilities discussed. They went the extra mile for her birthday during the July lock-down last year. Thank you to Jo and all your staff.
