Welcome to the Black Bull

Nestled in the village of Kirkby Stephen, the Black Bull is a traditional family friendly inn at the heart of the local community. We welcome locals and fleeting visitors alike who all take advantage of having both the Lake District and North Pennines right on our doorstep.

Providing a great range of drinks to inspire the taste buds and excellent pubs classics to indulge any craving. As well as 9 comfortable rooms for a place to rest your head, we are the perfect respite no matter if it’s a few days, or just a few hours, the Black Bull is the place to be.

Bring the whole family, including the four-legged ones, to enjoy our large alfresco garden or with our street side seating you’ll be able to bask in the Cumbrian sun and watch the hustle and bustle of village high street pass by in any season.

From everyone here at The Black Bull, we look forward to welcoming you.

What a big disappointment. Last time we stopped here for Sunday lunch is was home cooked and very good. This time everything was out of a freezer....not good at all. Punch Taverns what have you done. Also if you have a vegetarian child you cannot order a child's nut roast as brewery only allows you to order an adult (I wouldn't order it anyway as it looked awful). Will not be going again.

Generic beer, generic food, clinical atmosphere, with a ‘drink craft beer’ sign in the gents. Not lacking in irony. The French would say ‘bof’.

Extremely disappointed with a bed and no breakfast at £85 !! it’s the concept of a walkers accommodation with a lack of breakfast that must make this a truly unique experience! Having said that we all agreed the quality of the food was appalling and hardly good value. I’d advise walkers to find accommodation elsewhere and stay well clear

Really nice pub inside and it allows dogs, our dalmatian had a good time! The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was really nice too! Next time we're back in Kirkby Stephens we'll visit again!

Great staff! Great place! The food could have been better. Steak was overcooked and chips were undercooked. Other than that, Great pub!
